Yosemite Artist-in-Residence Nudes

Ken Marcus was honored to be selected as an Artist-In-Residence at the Yosemite National Park Museum. This unique opportunity allowed Ken to combine his love of Yosemite's natural landscape with his passion portraying the nude human figure as art. These classical nude figure studies resulted in a series of images that have been exhibited and published worldwide. Shortly after the museum presented Marcus' work in their gallery, a top Park official ordered their removal on grounds of obscenity. The public outcry and controversy that arose from this government censorship became front page news in over 1,400 newspapers and generated national television news coverage. Eventually, that official lost his job and the images continue to be a part of the museum's permanent collection. These images are now available to collectors.
